'Mad Max': A Music Video Built on Trust, Not a Big Budget
Today is quick! As I’m short on time… lol
I told part of Ian's story back on Day 6, so today felt like a good excuse to revisit it.
This is "Mad Max," a music video from the Wharfside album.
Ian always comes to me with an idea, and it's always at least three times bigger than his actual budget can support. I take that big swing, find the version we can actually pull off, and keep whatever made it exciting intact. From there, he pretty much hands me the reins to direct and edit however feels right.
That's how I genuinely want every client to think, no matter their budget. Come to me with the big, slightly unhinged idea. We'll figure out together what actually fits the real scope.
Beach-themed, but still very much him, we filmed this one down in Asbury, New Jersey, a town that's close to his heart.
Fun fact: Ian does his own costume design.
For this one, our character (Stone Sneakers) is drinking a thick, black, oily drink that slowly seems to send him a little more unhinged the longer he wanders around Asbury alone. Ian showed up in an all-white jean fit splattered in black "oil,". I loved that outfit the second I saw it.
Welcome to the interesting world of Stone Sneakers.
Now I actually want to hear from you.
