Your Values Are Already in Your Business. Are They in Your Content?

Day 2 of 31 · Fri, Oct 2, 2026

Talk with a business owner about their business in person, and you can usually tell what they care about within a few minutes.

It comes through in how they talk about their customers, the way they describe their work, and the choices they've made along the way. Then you look at their website or their Instagram, and very little of it shows up there.

That gap between what you're building and what people see is what this first week of Blogtober is about, and it starts with your brand values.

What brand values are…

Your values are what you believe and how you operate. You might have them written on your About page, or maybe you might never have put them into words... Either way, they show up in the decisions you make every day: who you work with, how you treat the people you serve, what you say yes to, and what you turn down.

Most businesses/business owners already have strong values. The harder part is seeing them clearly enough to share them.

A little backstory…

Before FroMotion, I spent years working as a creative in corporate spaces. Over time, I kept noticing the gaps between leadership and the creatives doing the work. So much of the understanding behind each other's decisions got lost between the two.

Then a nerve injury changed the direction of my work. For a while, I couldn't physically DO anything. It pushed my focus toward strategy and planning, the part of the process that decides what gets made and why.

I built FroMotion to bridge the gaps I saw. If you want the full story, I wrote about it in From In-House Creative to Content Strategist.

Looking back, those gaps are a big part of why I start with values. When people don't share an understanding of what matters, the reasons behind decisions get lost, and the work stops reflecting who the business is. Values give everyone the same starting point. I’d say FroMotion's are authenticity, entrepreneurship, intention, and community, and they guide every decision I make, from who I work with to what we create together.

What values look like in a business

Here's how each of mine shows up in my work:

  • Authenticity: I build each client's content around who they are and what they're working toward, so nothing about it feels borrowed from a template.

  • Entrepreneurship: I run FroMotion as a one-woman business, so I know what it's like to build something from the ground up while wearing every hat.

  • Intention: Strategy comes before production, so every shoot and every post starts with knowing what it's for.

  • Community: I work closely with the people I serve and build alongside them, and I believe the businesses that grow stronger over time are the ones with a community behind them.

Your values might look completely different. Care might show up in how you follow up with every customer… Craftsmanship might show up in the time you spend on the details nobody else notices… Family might show up in who runs the business with you… Whatever they are, they're already part of how your business runs.

Are your values showing up in your content?

Pick one of your values, then look back at your last few posts, your website, or your last email, and ask yourself:

  • Would someone who's never met you be able to name this value from what you've shared?

  • Does it show up in what you post, or only in how you talk about your business in person?

  • Is there a decision you made recently because of this value that you've never talked about?

Your values are already in your business.
Are they in your content?

I'd love to hear from you. What's one value you want people to see more of in your content?
Share it in the comments.
