Letting Your Content Strategy Grow With Your Business

Blogtober! Day 7 of 31 · Tue, Oct 7, 2026

Your business doesn't stand still.

You add new offers, set new goals, move through busy and slow seasons, and sometimes the people you serve start to shift too. Meanwhile, it's easy for your content to stay right where it was when you first set it up. It’s just a mundane task on the checklist, and yet it’s become outdated.

Yesterday, I walked through the symptoms of a business that's outgrown its content strategy. Today, I'm sharing how to keep your content strategy growing alongside your business, so you never fully get to that point.

Your content strategy needs regular check-ins

A content strategy is the plan behind your content. It covers what you create, who it's for, where you share it, and what you want it to do for your business, whether that's bringing in new customers, building trust, or supporting a launch.

That plan is also something you come back to as your business changes. Regular check-ins keep your content pointed toward where you want your business to go, so you're not waiting for those symptoms to pile up before you make a change.

A check-in doesn't have to mean starting over. Most of the time, it means looking at what you're sharing, comparing it to where you want to be, and adjusting what no longer gets you there.

When a check-in makes sense

You're launching something new

A new offer, product, or service changes what people need to know about you. If your content is still built around what you offered last year, people might not even realize the new thing exists, or understand why it matters.

You're heading into a new season

The end of the year, a busy season, or a slower stretch can each change what your business needs from its content. A check-in before the season starts gives you time to plan, so you're not scrambling once it's already here.

The people you serve have shifted

Maybe you're working with bigger clients now, or a different community has started finding you. When who you serve changes, what you share needs to speak to them too.

You're noticing the symptoms

If you hesitate before sending people to your page, or the inquiries coming in aren't from the people you want to work with, that's a sign the check-in is overdue.

What a check-in can look like

You can start with a few questions that tie back to everything we've talked about this week:

  • Do your values still show up in what you share?

  • Does your content still point toward your bigger picture/has that vision changed?

  • Is it reaching the people you want to work with now?

  • Are you still choosing what to share on purpose?

If most of your answers are yes, you're in a good place. If a few made you pause, those are the places to start.

Wrapping up Week 1

This first week of Blogtober has been about the gap between what you're building and what people see. Next week, we'll get into content with a job to do, and how knowing what each piece is for makes it easier to decide what to create.

When's the last time you checked in on your content?

Share it in the comments if you'd like. I'd love to hear it.
